The Madarasi Hargita is the highest peak of the Hargita Mountains and Székelyföld, the northern remnant of the rim of a former stratovolcano crater. The Madarasi Hargita holiday and excursion center is located 36 km from Székelyudvarhely and about 70 km from Sóvidék (zona Sovata - Praid - Corund). The ski area is snow-sure from mid-December to mid-April, and if the weather is favorable, the season lasts until mid-May.
Among the Madarasi Hargita ski slopes, the Madarasi Hargita ski resort is the most popular, with a total of **4.5 km** long, very well-maintained, snow-sure ski slopes. The peak of Madarasi Hargita is located at an altitude of 1700 meters above sea level.
Our ski tours to Hargita in Madarasi start from the Sóvidék, with an 8+1-person minibus, you can admire the beautiful winter landscape by traveling through varied terrain through pine forests and a route full of ascents and descents.
We leave in the morning between 8-9 am and arrive at the ski resort around 10 am (the ski resort usually opens between 10-11 am). Those who want can rent ski equipment and try themselves on one of the ski slopes.
There are a total of 5 ski slopes of different difficulty on Madarasi Hargitan, which are accessed by 3 ski lifts. The slope recommended for beginners is Súgó Baby, which is simple, 100 meters long and has a ski lift.

The ski slopes of Madarasi Hargita have Snowstar + Technoalpin snow cannons. Doppelmayr, Garaventa and Leitner lifts operate on the ski slopes. The ski slopes are maintained with Kassbohrer PistenBully snow plows.
For those who feel like it, we can walk up to the peak of Madarasi Hargita, the Holy Mountain of the Szeklers, which is located at an altitude of 1801 m above sea level. Recommended equipment during winter tours: warm, layered clothing, hat, gloves, scarf, waterproof hiking boots, possibly snowshoes, and raincoat. Body temperature can be easily regulated thanks to layered clothing, and waterproof shoes and a rain jacket provide protection against rain and snow. And the hat, gloves and scarf provide protection against the cold. During the hikes, it is advisable to bring enough water and food with you.
On the way home, you can try a restaurant, where they will tickle your taste buds with delicious Székely food, but half board is also available at the hotel (for groups of 8-12 people). Arrival back to the warm accommodation in the evening, where you can splash in a hot tub with hot, salty water or warm up in the sauna (both programs are optional and require advance booking). p>

Sóvidék Pension & Guesthouse
The property is located in the village of Ocna de Sus (Praid, Harghita county, Romania), along the DN A13 main road, about 80 m far from the road.
The first floor of the newly built detached house has been designed to welcome guests. The house has a beautiful view of the surrounding mountains, Alsósófalva. The property has a spacious car park (4-6 cars, smaller buses) in a closed yard.
The courtyard has a smaller orchard, where there are 2 filagories. There is also a barbecue grill and a small playground in the middle of the yard and garden (climbing area, sandpit, small bikes, cars, balls, swimming pool in summer) ... At the same time there is a Szekler Jacuzzi or salt-tub, which is very popular in winter and summer! :-)
